Vinted Shoppers Voice Anger Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Updates
Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
