Why the DNC is Hiding their Post-Mortem Report on the 2024 Race: The Inside Story.

This action by the DNC to suppress the release regarding its internal post-election analysis on the 2024 election is remarkable but not surprising. Opposed to unpleasant candor, the Democrats' governing body behaves more like a publicity machine than a political organization focused on cultivating grassroots capacities capable of prevailing at the polls.

A Climate That Avoids Dissent

Hesitant to depart from the party establishment's culture demanding unity, the committee has stayed within the Biden-Harris shadow all through 2025. Publishing such a report might have shown that party leaders truly desire to encourage public discourse about the errors which allowed Donald Trump to become president again. Instead, the DNC is proceeding under the pretense that there are no lessons to understand from the stunning loss of 2024.

"Here’s our North Star: is this good for winning elections? If not, it’s a distraction from the core mission," a justification reportedly given to justify concealing the document.

Major Failures a Report Could Have Examined

A genuine analysis with any value would tackle head-on certain uncomfortable matters. This encompasses:

  • Electoral Disenchantment: Losing of a significant portion of the electorate who voted for the Democratic ticket during the previous election became a critical factor during the tight 2024 election.
  • A Choice to Seek Re-election: The determined insistence of a party leader to seek re-election, and a last-minute withdrawal, has been criticized as robbing Democratic voters the chance for a competitive nomination process.
  • Losing Touch With Core Democratic Voters: While facing rising costs, the campaign reportedly accommodating corporate donors' interests and not managing to challenge the effects of big business.
  • A Gaza Impact: The failure to shift a stance on a major international conflict is cited as alienating significant blocs, notably among young people, Arab American communities, and Muslim Americans.
  • A Decline in Young Voter Allegiance: Polling data indicates a significant drop-off in support for the party from young voters.

A Record of Evasion

This refusal fits a recurring tendency of evading uncomfortable facts. It recalls a situation in which the vast majority of elected Democrat in Washington acquiesced to a sitting president's decision for running for re-election right up until a disastrous televised debate compelled an exit.

Concurrently, large majorities within the party's base had been consistently telling pollsters that they opposed the incumbent to seek re-election.

Campaign Spending Questions

A substantive autopsy would also examine matters regarding campaign spending, including what sums went to insider consultants and advertising contractors over the course of a campaign which expended a staggering sum during the general election.

A Underlying Issue

At its core, the blockage of the official autopsy points to a submission to the existing power structure who engineered a disastrous national race. The signal for the party's base – which includes countless loyal volunteers – appears to be that they cannot have a right to understand what the leadership have learned from an analysis drawing from feedback from all states.

A political entity incapable to honestly assess where it went wrong will struggle to break free from the cycle that proved so beneficial to the winning candidate.
